  1. He assumed that the girls who had taken the photos had not doctored them because they seemed unclever, he believed the stories of the girls simply because of their simplicity, he assumed that Elsie was not a good enough artist to draw the fairies, and he took the second photographs as evidence as well.
  2. Many of these women had lost children and dealt with grief, or had undergone tragedies of life such as abuse. One woman's story was that she had been beaten by her husband so much that her son had began to do it as well and to take her money. I think people are so fascinated with these things because it gives them some explanation of the things that matter to them. In the first essay, Doyle grew fond of a belief in fairies after losing his son. Grief is often manipulated and talked about in stories of the supernatural, so that is likely how he became fascinated with them. Along with the Devil Baby, the women saw something of their children in the baby because of the wrongdoings of their lives.
  3. I do agree with Doyle, because everyone sees the world through their own unique eyes, even with scientific discovery, so much is not known. More things will continue to happen and we'll search for an explanation, but it will not be there all the time. I find that the Dyotlov Pass incident is not necessarily beyond scientific explanation, but because of the remoteness of the location, the circumstances, and the time period, I don't think it will ever be fully solved or understood by anyone.
  4. The story of the Chupacabra begins in the late 1990s. In Puerto Rico, many complaints were made of something killing livestock such as goats, and sheep, and draining them of their blood. Reports began to arise of a mythical creature that stood upright with red eyes and looked like grotesque dogs of some sort. Many witnesses came forward to complain of their lost livestock and to try and provide evidence of the creature, such as hair, and patches of skin. Scientists believed the creature to simply be coyotes with a severe case of mange, which would cause them to act irrationally, but many other scientists claim that this does not explain everything about the cases. Some find it to be a monkey species that walked on it hind legs, while others say it is simply fear after movie came out around that time featuring a similar monster, called Species. According to National Geographic, "It could be something that simple, or it could be something much more interesting, because we know that new animals are being discovered all the time". I personally believe it is an unknown species of coyote or another canine of the sort, though the case of the Chupacabra has always fascinated me.
